Adjudication plays a central role in the Festival and we are lucky to be able to access talented and committed musicians whose feedback can help to develop performers\u2019 skills and encourage their continuing enjoyment of live performance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-bottom: 30px;\">We are pleased to welcome Steven Roberts and Nadia Hinson\u00a0 as our adjudicators for the 2027 Festival:<\/p>\n<hr style=\"margin-bottom: 20px;\" \/>\n\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3908 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/worksopmusicfestival.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/steven-300x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/worksopmusicfestival.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/steven.png 300w, https:\/\/worksopmusicfestival.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/steven-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"font-size: 24px; color: #222; margin-top: 20px;\"><strong>Steven Roberts<br \/><\/strong>MEd, Ba(Hons), CertEd, BBCM, CMS, FRSA<\/h2>\n<p align=\"justify\">Steven has been a music adjudicator since 2001; has sat on the Adjudicators Council and was Chair of the Board of Trustees between 2014 and 2023. He is a busy professional; conducting, teaching and lecturing. He brings with him experience as a manager, knowledge of quality systems, business acumen and many years of leading change. He has successfully combined a career in education with his work as a conductor, musical director and adjudicator, working both in this country and in Europe and as far a field as Peru and Bahrain. Steven has conducted numerous concerts both in this this country and throughout Europe with a variety of choirs, ensembles, orchestras, wind bands and brass bands. He has toured extensively with the Gary Clarke (Contemporary Dance) Company for his productions of COAL and WASTELAND. He studied piano, brass and voice and has worked in a variety of musical settings. He has worked alongside actors and dancers on many projects and is keen to support the work of the Federation to maximise opportunities for performance within all disciplines. He enjoyed working with his colleagues on the Board and Councils and continues to serve the wider community of volunteers that help to keep our Festivals vibrant. Having previously held the post of Director of External Relations at Barnsley College he has excellent communication skills and enjoys collaborative working. He runs singing workshops for both adults and young people, particularly focussing on Key Stage 1 and 2. He teaches Piano, Brass and Voice in a Secondary setting and is a visiting lecturer at the University of Salford in the Department of Occupational Therapy, lecturing on presence and engagement. He is Conductor of Altrincham Choral Society, Chesterfield Philharmonic Choir and Honley Male Voice Choir. He is a Life member of ACS, CPC and a Fellow for the Royal Society for Arts and is Honorary Vice President of Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band. He became Chair of the Huddersfield Mrs Sunderland Festival in 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><!-- \/wp:html --><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr style=\"margin-bottom: 20px;\" \/>\n<p><!-- \/wp:html --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:columns --><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><!-- wp:column --><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><!-- wp:html --><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3909 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/worksopmusicfestival.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/nadia.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"299\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/worksopmusicfestival.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/nadia.jpg 299w, https:\/\/worksopmusicfestival.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/nadia-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 299px) 100vw, 299px\" \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"font-size: 24px; color: #222; margin-top: 20px;\"><strong>Nadia Hinson<\/strong><br \/>GRSM(Hons), LRAM, LTCLA<\/h2>\n<p align=\"justify\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><!-- \/wp:html --><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Nadia graduated from the Royal Academy of Music after having studied the violin with Manoug Parikian and the piano with Jean Harvey. She was awarded first prize for Aural studies and her quartet won the string chamber prize in her final year. Nadia was the featured soloist playing the Lark Ascending and Bach double violin concerto for the Benslow Trust at St. James\u2019 Piccadilly having been awarded an instrument to continue her studies. Other concertos in her repertoire include performances of the Mendelssohn, Mozart no.3 and 4, Haydn in C, De Beriot, Viotti, and works by Beethoven and Finzi.<\/p>\n<p>She began her career as a freelance violinist playing in many London based orchestras. As an accompanist to singers and instrumentalists, she met her musician husband Nigel and together they founded the Veloce Ensemble (string quartet and clarinet quintet) touring throughout Britain performing specially commissioned works for that genre. Appearances at festivals and stately homes inspired a regular concert series at Belvoir Castle and Holmepierrepont Hall. As a recitalist throughout the East Midlands, Nadia has been highlighted in festivals and BBC features locally.<\/p>\n<p>She is also currently the owner and director of the Hinson School of Music in Nottingham, and is an International examiner for the ABRSM, an adjudicator for The British and International Federation of Festivals, and a member of the Royal Society of Musicians.<\/p>\n<p>Nadia has recently stepped down as a senior consultant for the LEAD Academy trust, involved in developing music departments in schools in Nottinghamshire, and leading workshops to encourage and involve as many youngsters as possible in experiencing music and the arts in large scale productions and showcase concerts. She has set up composition workshops to inspire children to explore feelings and ideas through music and is a mentor for the Trust to develop self-confidence and communication through learning and performance.<\/p>\n<p>Nadia was awarded an honorary degree ARAM from her Alma mater The Royal Academy of Music in 2025 for services to musical education.<\/p>\n<p>Nadia has also recently been appointed to the ABRSM jazz examining panel.
